Gloucester Park has been fenced out

Football fans paying for a parking spot at Gloucester Park were faced with a fence blocking them from the direct access to the Matagarup Bridge that they were promised.

Gloucester Park was surrounded by fences stopping pedestrians from crossing the road to get to the Matagarup Bridge linking them to Optus Stadium for the West Coast Eagles game on Sunday.

Mick Radley, CEO of Gloucester Park says Main Roads put up the fences because they don’t want to manage the crosswalk.
“We’ve offered to manage it and it’s clear that it could be managed because it was managed the first week. It’s PTA and MainRoads just don’t want us to have people exiting our facility,” Mr Radley told 6PR.
“They want us to walk around right up to the edge of Trinity (College) and the WACA and then back around, which is no good if it’s raining, it’s no good for patrons of our facility and it’s bloody minded that they’ve put this massive structure around and the other thing is the cost of it.”
