The Mayor of the City of Fremantle says he’s expecting some debate around a proposal to rename Kings Square.

Council last night decided to start consulting over a potential name change, amid the square’s redevelopment — one strong contender is ‘Midgegooroo’, the name of the father of Noongar warrior Yagan.

But Mayor Brad Pettitt says that’s not set in stone.
