Fasting every second day could become a beneficial alternative to diets according to new research.

The concept of fasting has been around for centuries but now we have scientific evidence to back it up, Dr Arun Dhir told 6PR Breakfast.

Dr Dhir is a Gastro Intestinal Surgeon and author of Happy Gut, Healthy Weight and says he often fasts.
