Data sourced from the removalist booking platform Muval, has found that Perth is the surprising new city of choice for cash-strapped Aussies who are eager to escape soaring cost of living pressures.

The results found that 37 per cent of the migration to WA was in 2020, rising to 138 per cent in November of 2022.

“That’s a lot of people coming here,” 6PR Breakfast host Steve Mills said.

“Don’t we have the same sorts of pressures here? Don’t we have food going up, electricity prices going up, housing prices going up and a rental shortage?” 6PR Breakfast host Karl Langdon said in response.
