Labor’s Metronet proposal will cost the state $2.53 billion in its first stage.

Opposition transport spokesperson Rita Saffioti says that figure doesn’t include a $410 million spend on 78 new railcars.

They’re planning to fund around 14% the project with funds earmarked for Roe 8 which the Federal Liberals say isn’t possible.

The total cost of the project over eight years is put at around $3.8 billion
