Millsy & Karl

The State Government’s plan to crack down on potentially dangerous shark fishing goes too far and will harm recreational fishing, representatives are arguing.

Recfishwest CEO Andrew Rowland told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast everyone is on the same page that catching large sharks on public beaches is “not ok”, but the shark ban proposal is poorly planned.

“What we saw in yesterday’s announcement is a policy which goes too far,” Dr Rowland said.

“A blanket ban on wire trace across the whole metro area is just lazy policy.”
