Sam Mitchell is hopeful of playing against his former side at the MCG on Sunday despite coping an ankle injury in their win over Sydney last week. 

Josh Kennedy told 6PR Breakfast that Mitchell wants to play against Hawthorn and they won’t be taking the winless side ‘lightly’. 

‘He’s pretty excited, I know he’s hurt his ankle, he didn’t train yesterday, but he’s pretty confident he’ll be getting up, so hopefully he can get to training on Thursday and hopefully he’ll be flying out with us on Friday,’ Kennedy said about Mitchell.
