Nearly 15 million private health insurance customers will face an average premium hike of over three per cent starting April 1.

HBF CEO Dr Lachlan Henderson told Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR Afternoons that the increased health insurance premiums, “Reflect our cost of doing business, rising claims and being sustainable in the longer term.”

“There’s no shortage of regulation on our industry, we’re in regular conversations with the AMA and many others, and we always listen to their good ideas, but I think the need for another regulator or independent body is not one that we need at the moment,” Dr Henderson continued.
