Finals start Friday, says Pyke

Article image for Finals start Friday, says Pyke

Adelaide coach Don Pyke has labelled Saturday’s Showdown win a timely tune up for finals.

The Crows had a hard-fought 15-point win over their crosstown rivals Port Adelaide after three wins over Essendon, Brisbane and Fremantle by a cumulative margin of 272 points.

A win over the Eagles on Friday night should secure Adelaide a top-two position at the end of the regular season, two home finals and a double chance.

Pyke said Adelaide would treat their blockbuster against his old club West Coast on Friday as a final.

‘The way the ladder is sort of position this game is going to dictate where we finish,’ he said.

‘The reality for us is we want to finish as high as we can and in order to do that we need to get a result come Friday night.

‘So it sort of starts that process if you like because from here it will dictate where you head in coming weeks.’
