Dog anxiety has increased

Article image for Dog anxiety has increased

Dogs can be diagnosed with many types of anxiety; however, separation anxiety has increased due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Other forms of anxiety that dogs can experience are environmental, social and travel.

Andrew McKay, Head Vet at ZamiPet, told Jo Mcmanus that there are certain types of dogs that are more predisposed to stress and anxiety, which include Miniature Dachshund, Poodles and King Cavalier.

“If we talk about separation anxiety… it’s all about you not being there, and them wanting that company, so you need to take their mind off that or enrich their environment when you’re not there,” Mr McKay said is the best way to help out an anxious dog.
