Residents in a tight-knit Victorian community are waking to tragedy after five people were killed at their local pub.

A six-year-old boy, teenage girl and three adults died after a car drove over a curb, ploughing into a beer garden at Daylesford.

The 66-year-old driver has been taken to Ballarat Hospital and is yet to be interviewed by police.
