Artificial turf has been banned in the City of Belmont.

A number of other cities have already banned the fake grass due to it heating up faster than natural lawn and keeps an area warmer for longer.

City of Belmont Mayor Phil Marks says it’s an environmental issue as well.
“We’re trying desperately to get people to move more towards the environmental outcome where grass is ok, we’re happy with grass, also maybe gardens,” Marks told 6PR Breakfast.
