INNINGS BREAK

Hobart Hurricanes have posted a competitive total of 5-167 of their 20 overs.

D’Arcy Short has scored more than any other player this season but failed with the bat on this occasion, hitting 11 off 13 before holing out Agar off the bowling of Kelly.

In Short’s absense, George Bailey (37) and Simon Milenko (66*) propelled the men in purple to a competitive total.

Ashton Agar was superb for the Scorchers once more, ending with figures of 2-14 off his four-over spell.

PREVIEW

The second of tonight’s monster BBL double header sees a second versus third shootout between Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes.

In what is a matchup between two of the hottest teams in the competition right now, the Scorchers will be looking to preserve their 100 per cent home record this season while the Hurricanes will be keen to bounce back after losing to the table-topping Strikers on Wednesday night.

Such is the closeness of the year’s competition, a rare loss at the WACA could see the Scorchers slip to fourth and in danger of missing out on a final at the new 60,000-seater Optus Stadium.

With Jofra Archer, D’Arcy Short and Mitchell Johnson all set to play for their respective sides, fireworks are guaranteed at what is the penultimate Scorchers match to the be staged at the WACA.

Could this be a preview of the final? It’s one of many questions looming ahead of tonight’s blockbuster in the west.

Tune it from 9.20pm AEDT (6.20pm AWST) on 6PR in Perth, NTS Digital around the country or through the Cricket Australia website and app and David Morrow and Greg Matthews bring you the best coverage of Scorchers vs Hurricanes!
