The beach season is nigh upon us, and as we race to the water marine biologists are once again warning us of the inherent dangers on the seashore.

It’s timely advice, as the footage of a Perth snorkeler finding a blue-ringed octopus in his gear has gone viral.

University of Queensland biologist Bryan Fry – otherwise known as the “Venom Doc” – told Millsy and Karl onĀ 6PR Breakfast there’s good and very, very bad news if you happen to be stung.

“There’s no antivenom; they just slap you on an artificial respirator until the venom wears off,” Dr Fry said.
