An  church in Sydney was the scene of chaotic rioting last night after the congregation’s bishop was stabbed.

The 53-year-old was approached and stabbed in the head during a sermon at an Assyrian Orthodox church before riots broke out in the streets as police responded to the incident.

2GB Breakfast host Ben Fordham told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast community members showed up to offer support, but were also very angry.

“There’s speculation about what they crowd were saying … they were saying, ‘send him out, send him out’; they wanted to deal with him,” Mr Fordham said.
