Teachers will be subject to national practical teaching guidelines and tougher accreditation standards after the release of a daming report into teacher training standards.

State and Federal ministers have agreed to adopt the sweeping changes as poor NAPLAN results and teacher shortages continue.

The Director of Education Policy at the Centre For Independent Studies Glenn Fahey spoke with Oliver Peterson on 6PR’s Perth Live.

“Many teachers aren’t given the tools that they need to be effective in the classroom,” Mr Fahey said.
