When it comes to the AFLW there’s one woman that the competition owes a lot to and that’s Jan Cooper, she’s fought for the sport for many years and now she’s fighting another battle.

The AFLW trailblazer, former AFL Manager of Female Football Development and AFLW Premiership Cup ambassador was diagnosed with breast cancer a few months ago and is in the midst of treatment.

“Today is a good day, I head off to my next session of chemo tomorrow so the next week after that’s a bit rubbish, but nothing that others haven’t endured over the course of their lives too,” Ms Cooper told 6PR Breakfast.

Her children have set up a fundraising page as they prepare to shave their heads to support their mum and others battling cancer.
