Anthony Albanese is set to fly to the UK for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, along with 10 other Australians. 

The Prime Minister told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that he’s honoured to be part of such an extraordinary occasion.

“It will be a sad occasion but also a celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s contribution to Australia and the Commonwealth,” Albanese told Oly on Thursday.

The 10 “everyday” Australians invited to join their PM at the Queen’s funeral are from all over the country, including volunteers from St Johns Ambulance and WA’s first-ever Indigenous doctor.

“What’s interesting is the level of detail that clearly the Queen was engaged with herself, in thinking about what would occur when she passed on… these arrangements have been in place for many years.

“I think it is a good thing that such a thoughtful process was gone through and I regard it as a great privilege of my life to be attending the funeral of her Majesty as Australia’s Prime Minister.”
