A Victorian whisky distillery has been named the best in the world in a prestigious international spirit competition regarded as the “Olympics” for spirits.

Starward Whisky went up against over 5000 spirits and has taken out the title of Most Awarded Distillery of the Year at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

“It’s bloody amazing,” Starward Whisky founder David Vitale told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.

“It’s the first time in 22 years that an Australian distillery has won the award.”
