More kids on the streets of Perth

There is a rise of kids on the streets of Perth and Northbridge this year and Mission Australia says many of the youths are in a vulnerable situation.

Suzanne Caren told 6PR Breakfast there’s many reasons why the kids are on the streets and not all of them may not be homeless.

“I think the allure of the bars and the nightclubs and the fact that the CBD is busy all the time as well as the availability of drugs and alcohol and being able to connect with other people who you may not want your young person with”

And she warned Steve and Baz that we shouldn’t be too quick to judge if the kids are stealing things.

“I don’t think there’s any excuse for that type of behaviour, but I think we need to be really mindful that  these kids might be in survival mode and they may not know any different,” Ms Caren said.
