Lolly ban at checkouts

Lollies, soft drinks and other unhealthy snacks should be banned from supermarket checkouts according to researchers at Deakin University.

“We haven’t really seen any action from Australian supermarkets in this area when it comes to banning unhealthy foods from supermarkets,” Ella Robinson from the Global Obesity Centre told 6PR Breakfast.

Ms Robinson says UK supermarkets have set a great example by banning all confectionery from easy access areas like the checkouts and it would be ideal if Australia would follow in our fight against obesity.
