Escalating figures of fatal black cockatoo strikes on local highways have initiated a critical dialogue between Main Roads and the Kaarakin Conservation Centre.

Sam Clarke, Education Officer at the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that factors like native fauna near roads, water flowing, and grain spills attract cockatoos, increasing the risk of collisions.
“It’s more about trying to mitigate that and not make certain areas of our major roads attractive to wildlife,” he said.
