Families wait on dire news as Baltimore bridge search-and-rescue continues

US President Joe Biden is vowing to reopen the Port of Baltimore so the city doesn’t face supply issues following a bridge collapse.

Several people are unaccounted for after a 96,000 tonne container ship smashed into a pylon, causing the structure to plunge into the water.

US Correspondent Jonathan Kearsley told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast the bridge was a crucial piece of infrastructure.

“This was the busiest bridge in Maryland… it carried 30,000 vehicles every day,” Mr Kearsley said.
