Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Build Your Dreams (BYD) has begun taking orders for their 5-door hatchback.

The Corolla-sized car from Tesla’s largest competitor retails at $38,890, taking the crown for Australia’s cheapest EV.

Toby Hagon from EV Central spoke with Julie-anne Sprague on 6PR’s Afternoons.

“Just in the last couple weeks, we’ve seen the two most affordable EV’s come onto the market,” Mr Hagon said.
