Independence Day has been celebrated in the US, commemorating the day the country declared its independence from Great Britain. Chris Ilsley spoke with US Consul General Aleisha Woodward who will be leaving Perth after serving the maximum three years in the job.

John Curtin The Education Department has stopped the Prime Minister from using the John Curtin School of the Arts theatre for a party fundraiser. Education Minister Peter Collier said the event would be a political fundraiser which was inappropriate for a public school.
