Perth woman has mesh implant successfully removed in Sydney
Perth woman Katrina Strange, 44, travelled to Sydney last month to have her mesh implant removed. Ms Strange said she made the trip because Perth doctors did not believe her injuries were the result of pelvic mesh, instead asking if she had a history of bedwetting as a child.
The device, which was orginally implanted in 2005 to treat mild urinary stress incontinence, is similar to a mesh device which caused the death of Canadian Christina Brajcic from sepsis in October this year.
Ms Strange is now calling on surgeons to stop using mesh and return to native tissue repair.
She spoke to Jane about her ordeal.
