Luke Shuey talks about his role as captain of the Eagles

On Friday, Luke Shuey became West Coast’s 11th captain and this morning spoke with Michael and Carmen on Weekend Breakfast.

Luke explains why Shannon Hurn decided to stand down as captain, “He wants to stay as mentally fresh as he can and obviously he’s put so much time and effort in over the  5 years at the helm. I think he feels as though without having to worry about all the stuff a captain has to worry about, then he might be able to squeeze one or two more years out, whilst he’s still playing really good footy.”
