A local Northbridge store owner has told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast that the bashing of two women in a nearby car park emphasises the nightlife scene is getting out of control, saying it was ‘horrific’ and ‘not called for at all.’

Two young mothers were savagely bashed in the Northbridge carpark, with one of the culprits alleged to be former Western Bulldogs player Brennan Stack.

The owner of The Re Store, Lorenzo Berti said that the drug scene is fuelling the extreme aggression that continues to occur.

“If someone’s had a few drinks and they have a punch up like they used to do in the early days, it was a punch up all over and done with,” he said.

“The drugs just make them invincible they just keep going and going and going.”

The sickening attack left Perth’s Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas fuming.

The Lord Mayor told Perth LIVE, enough is enough.

“The perpetrators of this sort of nonsensical violence – why they feel that they are able to conduct themselves in this sort of way, is beyond comprehension,” he told Oliver Peterson.

“There are often excuses given, alcoholism… drug dependency or just recreational drugs in their system or other social issues…

“Quite frankly, I think I speak on behalf of every fair-minded West Australian, we’re sick of these sorts of excuses.

“People should be able to go out again in Northbridge and have a good time, and go home safely.

“The Police do an outstanding job. They’ve got extra resources now.”

Allan Adams, the Assistant Commissioner of the Metro Region for WA Police, told Gareth that it was ‘disgraceful’ behaviour and it ‘beggars belief’ how this presence of violence happens.

“We have a large number of police officers in Northbridge every Friday, Saturday night and extending across the whole CBD 24/7,” he said.

“That visibility is there to try and deter offending. We know on occasions police officers in full uniform get punched in the face by crooks, so just being there is not the ultimate deterrent that will stop some of these issues.”

A witness and nearby CCTV captured the confronting vision of the 10-minute assault, allegedly sparked by two car doors colliding.
