Avo frenzy hits Perth hills

Article image for Avo frenzy hits Perth hills

Avocado lovers around Perth got the bargain of the year and helped out a local farmer at the same time after a lady created a Facebook post just to help out her “nonna”.

Melissa Carling’s nonna grows avocados at her Roleystone property, but recently sales hadn’t been going so well and she was on the verge of throwing out loads of the popular fruit.
It was looking pretty dire until Ms Carling posted a notice on a community Facebook page offering avocados at the giveaway price of $2 a bag or 50 cents apiece.

People came from as far south as Mandurah to get their avo fix, while the post spread as far as Queensland.

“I don’t think she [nonna] would ever expect to see cars lined up her street,” Ms Carling told 6PR Breakfast.
