Sue McDougall: Profile

Sue McDougall

At the completion of school, Sue McDougall chose to enter the horticulture industry and while studying horticulture, worked at a production nursery in Wanneroo.

At the ripe old age of 19, Sue purchased a garden centre in the hills of Perth. She fell into the media with her first job co-presenting gardening at 6PR in October 1995 and is now part of the Garden Gurus team on Channel 9.

What was your first job?
My first paid job was a rouse-a-bout in a shearing team when I was about 15 and I remember thinking I was so rich after two week's work.

What is your favourite on air moment thus far?
When Harvey and I had a talkback call from Ena of Beckenham regarding the many people she remembered - who knew someone else who lived next to her, who was related to her second cousin, who knew the milkman, who worked at the pub. It kept going on for ages and ages and had Harvey and I in stitches!

What is your most embarrassing on air moment?
I remember saying orgasm instead of organism when describing nematodes. I was bright red for ages!
If you could interview anyone (living or dead) who would it be?
My Granddad: He was a Rat of Tobruk and as a kid I never had a chance to find out what happened and how he felt.
