RSPCA Pet of the Week - Hera
You may have read about Hera in the news. She was the 4 week-old puppy who was left in a box in a park in temperatures close to 40 degrees just a couple of weeks ago.
Hungry, very thirsty, covered in fleas and left all alone, Hera’s life could have ended very abruptly were it not for the people who found the box and rushed the tiny pup to the RSPCA.
She was immediately de-fleaed, given plenty of food and water and sat, exhausted, in an RSPCA clinic for two days as she recovered from her ordeal.
I’ve now fostered her and she has gained an incredible amount of weight, got her first jabs last week and next week, will be sterilized. That means she will be available for adoption in a fortnight!
We’re not sure what breed she is – possibly a lab, maybe a terrier… possibly a kelpie. Whatever she is, she is intelligent and friendly and I’ll miss her terribly when it’s time to give her back.
