Personal stories of mental health

6PR listeners have been given personal accounts of the woes and successes of WA’s  mental health system by patients and their family. Talking to Paul Murray on the Morning program Richard and Michael shared their stories.

Richard, a carer who's partner has been involuntarily admitted to the mental health facility at Fremantle hospital, told Paul Murray that the mental health system is unreliable and failing the people who need it the most.

Michael, who has been self admitted several times to the Alma street facility in Fremantle, described the time he spends there as a mental holiday where he has a chance to psychologically recharge.
