Freo youngsters knew the rules: Ballantyne

Fremantle has dropped two players from this week’s clash against Hawthorn, because they breached club alcohol rules and Hayden Ballantyne says the youngsters knew the rules and there’s no excuse.

Ballantyne told 6PR Breakfast the club alcohol policy was put in place by the leadership group and both Brennan Cox and Luke Ryan, who were excluded from this week’s team, agreed to the rule along with the rest of the players.

“As an AFL player at Freo, that’s their expectation. It is to not drink on a six day break and we all agreed to it,” Ballantyne told Steve and Baz.
“We thought up the policy because that’s going to give us the best chance to perform the following week. To let our bodies’ recover by not drinking alcohol and putting your body under extra stress”
