Peter Vlahos: Profile

Peter Vlahos has had a love for radio and was fortunate to land his first job straight out of high school.

He commenced his career at 6KG in Kalgoorlie , working as a radio announcer , playing the music, calling the goldfields football and doing about everything else that is required of you in country radio. He landed a job as announcer and sports conrtibutor at community station 6NR, where overtime he concentrated on developing his sports broadcasting skills at the expense of music announcing.

Eventually he was given the role of Sports Director, pioneering the station into AFL football, cricket and soccer programming.

Out to sample the big smoke , Vlahos then headed to Sydney where he landed a job with SBS Television as a sports presenter and did some radio work with 2SM. During his time in Sydney, he covered World Cup soccer tournaments and other major sporting events. He returned to Perth to help launch Sky Channel and also worked with Channel 9 but Vlahos had a passion for radio which lead him to 6PR, where he has been since 1998.

In that time Vlahos has been an integral part of the stations sports team covering and broadcasting a wide variety of sports.

Apart from his work on 6PR, where he is the breakfast sports presenter , he also is part of the Channel 9's sports team.
