Bob Maumill hangs up the mic
Friday is Bob Maumill's last show as Afternoons presenter on 6PR.
While he vows to return on a casual basis in the future, he will officially hand over the reigns to Ted Bull at the end of his show on Friday.
"I want to take this opportunity to thank Bob for his excellent contribution over many years and look forward to hearing him on the airwaves periodically and at the same time welcome Ted Bull, who takes over the
12 midday to 3pm shift,” 6PR General Manager Declan Kelly said.
Maumill has described himself as an "accidental broadcaster".
Before hitting the air, he had worked as a messenger, newspaper boy, labourer, shearing shed hand, drover, horse trainer and cargo ship crew member.
In his early 30s he found radio, working as a horse racing tipster. He continues to be a trainer and prominent figure in WA's racing industry.
Send your best wishes to Bob below.

It is great sadness, Bob, that you are leaving the airways. You made my afternoons. Please consider gracing the airways again, as really, nobody can replace your wry sense of humour.
I also wish you the best for the future.Merlene Crawford Wednesday 10 March, 2010 - 11:51 AM -
Dear Bob: I will miss your cheerful voice and down-to- earth approach on thought- provoking topics covered in your programs. I hope you'll change your mind about hanging up your mike and not deprive us of your presence on the airways. Take care, Anna

Bob, why you always do that? You give us the best and versatile show and then leave. You are the only one at 6PR with such an encyclopaedic and versatile knowledge who is always a pleasure to listen and to learn so much from; I don't think 6PR can replace you. Hope to hear from you even on a casual basis in the near future.
All the best.Jack Saturday 6 March, 2010 - 9:58 AM
