ANZAC DAY... A salute to our heroes

ANZAC Day... the words so powerful in the Australian vocabulary, they can bring a tear to the eye, a lump to the throat and a feeling of  Australian pride. Words that bring to mind those other unique Australian words that bore their origin in the trenches of Gallipoli in 1915 - 'Cobber', 'Digger', 'Fair Dinkum', 'True Blue', 'Mate'.

As ANZAC Day approaches, we remember these courageous Aussie men and women who took part in various conflicts throughout the twentieth century, right through to the present day.

To commemorate our heroes, 6PR encourages you to share your ANZAC Day story, dedicate a message to these special Australians (both fallen and serving), post your personal memory or more... What it means to you to be a proud Australian!

Supported by VB, the Raise A Glass Appeal will aim to raise more than a million dollars to support Australian serving and ex-service men and women, and their families. The Raise A Glass Appeal begins this April, raising money and awareness for the RSL and Legacy's welfare programs.

For more information please visit www.raiseaglass.com.au

100% of the money raised will be distributed between the RSL and Legacy.VB will contribute $1 from VB cartons sold throughout April to the Raise A Glass Appeal and more than 1,500 kegs to pubs around Australia for Anzac Day celebrations, with the proceeds from the sale of these kegs also contributed.

  • My father fought in the war and was never the same. The things that were seen can never be unseen although now he is finally at peace. For those brave men who thought they were doing the right thing and didnt quite now what they were getting into - I salute you.

  • What a great sight it was seeing the Australian Flag proudly waving on cars on Australia Day. I think we should also let those flags wave again for Anzac Day in memory of those who lost their lies for this beautiful country of ours.

  • Just want to say "Thank You" to all who fought for my freedom, and sorry about my countrymen for allowing it all to be taken away, without firing a word even. In my eyes at least, you did not fight in vain. thank You ...hugs Angie xx
