Western Power's secret payouts
Western Power has started making payments to Toodyay residents affected by the 2010 fires despite steadfastly refusing liability for the blaze. 6PR journalist Paul Entwistle revealed the payments are being made with strict confidentiality clauses.
Toodyay resident and fire victim Laurie Biggs spoke to 6PR saying that he was disappointed in the way that Western Power can conduct themselves with regard to claims by fire victims. Mr Biggs told Paul Murray the nondisclosure clause for claimants in the class action lead by litigation Lawyer Kevin Banks-Smith flew in the face of the open and accountable government that the premier was pushing.
