The opposition encourages members of the public to tip them off with examples of wasteful spending.

The state opposition launched a website detailing what they feel is wasteful spending by the Barnett Government. Shadow Treasurer Ben Wyatt told Howard Sattler taxpayer’s money was being spent on maintaining indoor office plants.

  • Govts have been wasting $$$$$ for years and years so whats new??? its sickening.
All Govts should be held accountable for every $ spent and these figures should be available for the public to see!

  • Well, that is wasteful spending whether in good or bad times, however especially so when homelessness has risen to 20,000 in WA, 60,000 on public housing waiting lists, and with WA the highest homelessness rate in Australia, at least 69 per 10,000 people, and the Kimberley with the highest homelessness rate in Australia and in the so-called developed world, 638 per 10,000 in 2006 and my cluster surveys indicating near 1,000 per 10,000. Therefore 7 to 10% of the Kimberley's 41,000 people are homeless. There should be no extravagant spends and more Spartan existences from our parliamentarians, all of them, including all those in Canberra with their CEO like pay hikes, the disparity has never been more pronounced.
