Video: Mid air drama revealed
Listen to the conversation between the pilots of Virgin Flight 697 and traffic control as they conduct a desperate search for a safe landing site as the plane runs dangerously low on fuel.

Well, just carry more fuel. But its a fact the pilots are judged how well (economical) they can fly their planes. Additional fuel gives plenty more options in the event of not being able to land at destination. Experienced pilots make good judgements before departure about fuel loads. But no experienced pilot has a crystal ball to identify what awaits at destination.

It amazes me at the way the media hypes things up-- what I heard was some very appropiate and professional controlling to the right level,
Just when the pilots needed it.To the 'moron' journalist that described this so called incident,You would be lucky to be onboard any one of those jets, the pilots appeared not to be stressed
Either ( would you prefer to have a foreign pilot
At the controls ,,,possibly one of our close
northern neighbours? Yogyakarta?)
Yes sir I can make a comment like this on your
reporting- because I have been in command of
F-28s, B-737s, A-320s and A-330s when the
wind has been gusting to these levels and it is
very challenging.
Well done to all.CUTYA Monday 30 January, 2012 - 11:28 PM -
If the passengers had swiped their credit cards during the flight they might have been able to get more fuel.
This was hardly an emergency!

[Yawn] a typical Summer pattern at YPPH, but why wasn't the more into-wind RNW 06 used to begin with?
Fully agree with comment of the hysterical hype - the Oz media is as bad as India's.Rod Slasher Wednesday 25 January, 2012 - 12:28 PM -
As a commercial pilot, I can tell you that landing in crosswinds of 40 to 50kts, coupled with severe turbulence, low fuel, at night is the most stressful thing you will do in your career. You can hear the stress in their voices. All your experiance comes into play. This is where you earn your money.

That was NOT a drama...however as usual the morons in the media need to blow the story up because they have nothing else worthy to report...
