The Hills fight continues
After hearing from residents of the Hills who lost everything in the bushfire and were struggling to rebuild Howard Sattler called on the member for Darling Range, Tony Simpson, to appear on our program. Mr Simpson joined Howard Sattler in the studio to discuss his role in representing his constituents in their battle.

we lost our house in the kelmscott fires (wife, son age 13,daughter 7yrs).we chose to rebuild . the demolition we were not compensated for, i had a demolition company organised before the council decided to cover all demolition,i had a verbal agreement with the project manager(Ken Brown) for the council who was controlling the demo ,that i can still carry on with the demolition company and he will have it covered with WANDRA.we had to pay the demolition ourselves and the council will not cover it with WANDRA ,even though our demolition was $10000 and the same contractor had done several more of the fire victim houses at a cost of about double ours ???the council property that caught our house on fire was not slashed properly before the fire,i have pics of burnt grass 1m tall on the fence, still today the fire breaks have too many chopped branches spread out about 100m, hippocrit council can take responsibilty for the fires as they are meant to ensure fire breaks are functional as they werent before the fire happened. we also had problems with enviromenal issues that is acceptable but the council did not remove their burnt copper logs till about 6 months ago ??
thanks

Mr Simpson I lost my home in the bushfire and I was not allocated $15000 from Wandra, you stated that each person had their block cleared however this is a false statement. I had to go to Legal Aid and the Ombudsmen in order to gain my $10800 back that I paid for my demolition block, Wandra looked at my claimed and liased with the Armadale Council however all parties advised that we did not meet the criteria therefore our demolition was funded by ourselves not by Wandra, please before you make a statment get your facts correct, there are at five families who have not had thier demolition funded.
Thank you
