The carbon tax has clicked in to law and now we wait to see what the future holds for us.

The carbon tax has now clicked in to gear and is still no give from either side on it's effectiveness in controlling emissions. Paul Murray spoke to experts from the pro and anti divisions on the carbon tax debate.

Yes it is a carbon dioxide tax, however it is a pollution tax, in the end a tax is paid for the right to pollute, it may work as disincentive to pollute if customers of those who pollute are not able to subsidisde them and more cost of living pressures immolate subsidies, nothing is an economic given as sums and balance sheets would hope and project in year to date variances yet to occur. The best way to reduce pollution is to cut emissions, quotas work, however some fear change and some fear the transition, right now what we have is the privilege of paying to pollute - hopefully the global movement will be to cold turkey reduce or cut toxic emissions. This also forces on the innovation of cleaner energies and the new jobs!
