  • Pensions are protected by court runilgs. Whatever state workers have earned can not be taken away. The Taxpayer will always foot the bill if there is a shortfall. However, there is enough money that in the pension funds to pay out for many years if there were no new contributions added. Bob is kind of like Charles Schumer and the pension funds are like Indymac.
