The Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries rejected the Leederville Precinct’s request to serve alcohol without a meal on Good Friday.

Leederville Precinct General Manager Carl Leembruggen told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live, “We will be [open] but we will be opening under the requirement for us to serve a meal with a drink.”

“The rules and regulations around liquor licensing were created many years ago, and the world’s changed in front of our very eyes. Where it is today it’s certainly not what it was like when these rules were created. So I think there needs to be more of an evolution here.”

“There were many other pubs granted the approval of their permits for the exact same reasons I applied for mine. But they got approved, and I got knocked back, so it begs the question why?” Mr Leembrugeen questioned.
