Halal-abaloo over BBQ meat

A Federal MP is making Halal-a-baloo over meat certified for Muslim consumption.

Luke Simpkins, the Federal Member for Cowan, is up in arms with claims consumers are unwittingly eating Halal meat. Steve Mills spoke to Mr Simpkins about his dire concerns about 'We are what we eat' and the hidden terror on our BBQ's.

  • Do these organisations pay the muslims for the right to sell Halal and labeled as halal, as it has been the past practice. If this is the case then this yet another charge jacking up the cost of foods. Which in fact it is you the customer paying for the use of halal product and marketing, you are financially supporting the muslims is that what you want when you buy a sausage. Ask Mr Simpson this but check out through other means. Look at products on the shelves who display this on thier products, I do not support these products for these reasons if this is the case with Woolies coles etc then I go elsewhere I will not financially support the Islam faith.

  • You've got no idea, halal slaughter does stun, and done in exact way as non halal. Anyway even if they don't stun a sheep plenty farmers don't either, so don't give Muslims trouble for something we do ourselves. You've filled this politician with lies and propaganda it's usually the other way.

  • I heard a bit about the halal meat and how the member of Cowan was up in arm's. Well at least we still have true Australians speaking out about what we should tresure. Halal is not only the way an animal is kiled it also speaks about who the animal is presented to. the act of facing it to meca speaks to them that that animal was killed in acordance to their religion. the animal in fact is ofered to the god as it was done back in the olden days of animal sacrifice, AUSTRALIA WAKE UP !!! like it or not Christian or non Christian we were founded under Cristian belives with Cristian morals. oh and before u think he must be white no iam not iam an imigrant brown like sure but I LOVE this Country for everithing it has given me. Lets not allow Australia and the way of live slip through our fingers. speak up and if you dont like it GO BACK !!

  • DO YOU KNOW HOW THEY KILL THIS HALAL MEAT......Not stunned then bled they are hung not stunned then have there throats slit till they bleed to death........So barbaric and out of date, you want Halal meat go live in a muslim country.....if i did this to a cow on my farm i would be charged with cruelty by the RASPCA......This is AUSTRALIA either go by the way WE slaughter animals or bugger off some where else, BECOME AUSTRALIAN AND EMBRACE OUR CULTURE, dont try to change US!!!
