Baby bonus amongst cuts
The baby bonus has been slashed from $5000 to $3000 for second and subsequent children in Wayne Swan’s ‘mini budget’. Howard Sattler spoke to Eva Cox, convenor of Women’s Equity, and Australia Christian Lobby Managing Director Jim Wallace.

The baby bonus should be scrapped altogether. We are already overcrowded and our infrastructure is struggling to cope. With all the immigrants now being allowed to pour into this country we don't need any more people. We haven't got enough water (particularly in WA) and the environment is suffering. Only big transnationals want an increased population because it gives them a larger consumer base and a cheaper labour force.

Cuts to baby bonus, cuts to defence, cuts to police, cuts to education, cuts to health. Stop all the illegalâ??s by boats and no more cuts will be required due to the billions saved. Hard working Australians are once again going without more and more due to a Government that has totally lost touch with reality.

Glad to see the baby bonus cut as it is clearly not working.
Why incentivise people to breed like flies?
All this has done is put extra pressure on social security payments.

Might stop a few people having children just so they can claim the $5000 bonus. These people are out there before all you "do-gooders" jump on here saying people don't do that. I have actually heard some young people planning what they will spend the baby bonus on and some how I don't think a trail bike, drugs or booze is intended for the child.
