ACROD parking dramas

Bedshed staff told Zara 'everybody does it' when she complained about a delivery truck parked a disabled zone.

Zara holds an ACROD parking permit but ran into trouble when she visited Bedshed in Morley. The disabled bay was taken by a delivery truck and she told Howard Sattler she was very unhappy with how her complaint was handled.

  • Acrod bays are for people who are disabled not seniors even though acrod turn a blind eye the law is if you can walk your lable is only to give a 30 minute grace in a standard bay not wheelchair bay this is why every lable have a code on it as parking officers if they can be bothered can enter the code on a hand held PDA it will tell them if they are able to use or if they are abusing it's about time Perth pulled there finger out and did the job

  • I used to be a "parking nazi" and booked many people for this offence (and was quite often thanked for it). I could write a book on the excuses I have heard on why people parked there when they shouldn't - most of them weak and pathetic excuses. Some people have temporary Acrod permits as they have injuries that entitle them to this permit for the duration of the injury. Unfortunately some continue to use them after they have expired. A quick check by inspectors of this date will catch them out. The other problem is people using their friends and relatives permits is a harder one to "police". Also, not every legitimate Acrod holder has an obvious disablity, meaning they are not in a wheel chair or on a cane/crutches so we can't assume these people are not offenders. Short of inspectors hovering around disabled bays full time there isn't much that can be done, there will always be those people out there that don't care and park in these bays, gggrrrrr!

  • Re Zara & Accrod Parking Dramas:
It is NOT only non-disabled drivers parking in ACROD bays, it is also non-disabled drivers, using ACROD permits to park in the ACROD bays.
