26 million is enough
President of the Stable Population Party William Bourke has proposed Australia should balance immigration with emigration and cap baby bonus payments to the first two children. Howard Sattler spoke with Mr Bourke who says 26 million people living in Australia is a sustainable number.

I agree, we should be having this debate - overpopulation has a lot of negatives on quality of life, but govt and big business love it cause it creates 'growth', increases GDP, and creates a bigger consumer market.

Julia Gillard has broken her first promise, not "hurtle" towards a "big Australia". Undemocratically, our immigration rate is decided behind closed parliamentary doors, without public debate. In a planet of increasing scarcity of natural resources, and climate change, it's just a matter of time before our booming population collides with diminishing water, land and fossil fuels. Our quality of life is under threat, and William Bourke of the Sustainable Population Party of Australia makes perfect sense. The massive costs of desalination plants is evidence of Australia's overpopulation. Immigration should be at replacement levels to compensate for low fertility, not at growth-levels.

There really is no sound argument to justify supporting America any further yet the stigma of China as communists is sufficient to generate support through fear. We must remember that the US has had control of the world for only 60 years. Before that the world was indefinitely sustainable. Under the US the world has been brought to the brink of total collapse in such a short time. There are so many nations the US has waged war on in that tiny period that it would take more than 300 words just to mention them. It is obviously a case of manufacturing one bad guy after another and using that as a means to wage war and steal assets. With every nation that is absorbed the ability of the world to recover from the cancer of the US becomes more difficult. America has everything tied up in their military. They must continually wage war to generate a ROI or their entire economy will collapse. All of the soft targets have been destroyed and now the deficit created by their military is so large they must take on big and powerful nations merely to survive. The next targets will be Korea take 2 and then into China. After that capital is squandered they MUST shape up to the likes of England and France. Australia should form a new union with the UK AND China and rapidly expand our military. A new union will stabilise the world and starve the US of access to war capital. We CANNOT wait any longer. We have no more than 15 years left on this path.

Good to hear William talking about natural disasters - we will have more of these in the future as climate change bites. That means the lower the population the better the likelihood of adapting to a difficult future that may well have resource constraints. Only thing he missed was New Zealanders coming in, uncontrolled by government. This has to be fixed. We need to get rid of the Trans-Tasman Agreement.

Hillary Clinton is spruiking the bad guy as a means to perpetuate dependency and generate US capital at the expense of every other nation in the world. Hillary has spruiked the bad guy for those purposes as much and as dishonestly as George W Bush. Nobody believes that inane drivel anymore. Demonstrate some honesty Hillary. Tell the world the full extent of US relations with the Bin Laden family. Tell the world about the Mossad film crew on 911. Reveal the highly curious insurance circumstances. Tell the world the extent of training and instruction the US provided Saddam Hussein before he moved against the US. Tell the world the extent of Lithium Uranium and Rare Earths the US has discovered and secured in Afghanistan. I dont even want to talk about the big H because it is too terrible to contemplate. It was too terrible to contemplate when it was coming out of Cambodia and Laos on US government planes protected by US government security and it is too terrible to contemplate now. We have listened intently for decades while people like you Obama and Bush have forced lie after lie after lie on the world. The US government treats their allies exactly the same as their enemies. Rape destroy and pillage. We have had enough. Maybe the few remaining allies of the US will follow you in your entirely predictable war against Korea and maybe they will not. What is certain is that the world has come to realise the US is a far greater threat to the world than Korea or any other nation since 1940. It was imperative that the Nazis were stopped and it is equally imperative that the US is stopped.

It is a long overdue conversation we MUST have as a country, as a planet be discussing stablising the human population for SO many reasons! (Read many here: http://www.overpopulation.org/whyPopMatters.html)
Great to see the Stable Population Party off the ground and I will be throwing my vote behind them.Emma Thursday 24 January, 2013 - 6:56 PM
