The second explosion that ripped through the New Zealand Coal Mine has been reported to be stronger than the first explosion on Friday. Officials have conceded that it would have been almost impossible that the miners could have survived this explosion. 6PR's Howard Sattler investigated.

Second explosion at Pike River Mine

A second blast has ripped through the Pike River Coal Mine in New Zealand. There are now fears that the 29 trapped miners would have had no hope of surviving. Officials informed families that they couldn't have survived the second blast, which was said to be stronger than the first.

 Miners may never be rescued

Trucks roll into Northam

John Edwards lives next door to the proposed refugee camp and said that Dongas are arriving and preparations are underway to bring the Northam Army Camp up to speck for the 1,500 Asylum seekers.

We have been told by a Department of Immigration and Citizenship spokesperson that the dongas are for the Army Cadets and are being supplied by the Department of Defence.

John has been watching trucks come in over the past week, laden with equipment and leaving empty – which has been occurring on a steady basis for the entire week. These would have to be some of the best equipped army cadets in the country according to John!
