Way back when we were all about the music, 6pr adopted the slogan of 'The Good Guys of Radio' and held true to it. Paul Murray spoke to original 'Good Guy' Keith McGowan about 6pr being the big name in music radio.

We're 80 years young

Where 6PR all began

A 6PR party in the 30's for the fledgling radio station. Steve 'Flash' Gordon and musical historian John Cranfield spent an evening remenising about 6PR's 80 years of continuous broadcasting to Perth. In the first part of a special 'The Way We Were' we go back to where it all began, 14th October 1931.

6PR in the 50's

In the 50's 6PR began to develop it's own identity, and Perth liked it. Steve 'Flash' Gordon and musical historian John Cranfield spent an evening remenising about 6PR's 80 years of continuous broadcasting to Perth. In Part 2 of a special 'The Way We Were' Steve and John lok at our foramtive 50's.

6PR, we're 'The Good Guys'

The 'Good Guys' of radio became 6PR's catch cry in the 60's. Steve 'Flash' Gordon and musical historian John Cranfield spent an evening reminiscing about 6PR's 80 years of continuous broadcasting to Perth. In Part 3 of a special 'The Way We Were' 6PR's 'Good Guy' image came in to being.

Even 6PR enjoyed the 70's

In Part 4 a special 'The Way We Were' 6PR embraced the 70's and welcomed a young broadcaster called Ted Bull.

George Grljusich George Grljusich was, is and always will be part of 6PR's success. A broadcaster without rival and a character who defied description, George left 6PR with some of the most amazing moments in WA's radio history.

Jingles all the way

The 6pr 'jingle' has evovled along with the station. The 'jingle' has been the defining audio signature of 6pr since...well...since we began in 1931. Just like us the 6pr jingle has evolved over the past 80 years to reflect the community and the personality of the station. Have a listen and enjoy.
